EXPERIENCE MYSTERIOUS ROCK HISTORY!
The following events remain unsolved – within the reality we all agree on.
There are three concerts that 00individual attended, rocked and remembered very well, and yet apparently to the rest of the universe didn’t exist, never happened.
The normal and legitimate answer would be memory loss due to alcohol and mind-altering drugs, but that’s the easy way out. 00individual was only a drinker in his teens and “graduated” a druggie thereafter. This non-alcohol/mind-altering lifestyle apparently contributed beneficially to his already innate accurate and sometimes spooky memory bank abilities regarding classic everyday events of the ’60s and ’70s. This also included ongoing mind-blowing cultural trivia absorption.
In the early ’70s 00individual was a Record Store Manager and Rack Jobber with a universe of record labels, artists, album catalog numbers and music trivia memorized. And later in the ’80s, as a USPS Postman in Malibu as a T6, a position that required the memory of six different routes to cover for Postmens’ days off – 00individual retained nearly 1/3 of entire main Malibu addresses, names, businesses, etc.
Today this blogsite’s archives, chronicles and reviews are testimony to the true life happenings during a historic era told with truth – as there was never a need for embellishments.
These previous statements are to support and substantiate the following; the truth as 00individual experienced and remembered these events in real time.
So, here goes:
Lee Michaels at the Santa Monica Civic,
Electric Light Orchestra at Loyola Marymount University,
Robin Trower at the Hollywood Palladium.
Here’s what 00individual knows:
Rock Cold Case # 001
LEE MICHAELS
August 00, 1970
Santa Monica Civic Auditorium
00individual is a big Lee Michaels fan and his Carnival of Life album released in 1968 became an imprint of the wondrous effects of marijuana and early psychedelics like Mescaline which was the beginning of a life-long journey of consciousness-raising, mind-expansion, awareness and Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Lee had one of the best and soulful Rock and Blues voices and never really got his due despite being at the forefront of the initial days of concerts in and around San Francisco.
The fine and infectious “Barrel” album was released in July 1970 and a few days after its release Michaels played the Fillmore West on the 23rd; so it is likely that he performed down the coast at the Santa Monica Civic soon afterward and that means that 00individual probably saw him perform most of Barrel in August or September at the latest.
However, there is no verification of this concert. This could just be an oversight on the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium’s records as 00individual checked with the SMCA Director and she had no date that year of a Lee Michael’s concert. And there is no reference to this concert on any Lee Michaels’ websites.
Stranger still is that the concert was filmed for a documentary on Michaels; the live footage of that concert was used, along with footage of Lee at home in the woods with his Cheetahs – 00individual knows this too as he saw the mini-doc of Lee several months later on TV.

Rock Cold Case # 002
ROBIN TROWER
April to July, 1974
Hollywood Palladium
00individual is a big Trower fan and immediately bought tickets to see him opening for Leslie West’s Mountain at the Hollywood Palladium on his “Bridge of Sighs” tour in mid(?) 1974.
Again, 00individual has a distinct memory of seeing Trower in 1974, and here’s why; Fucking Bridge Of Sighs!! Like 00individual would miss that!
Being so pure in our concert going that we didn’t want to taint our Trower experience we agreed to leave before Mountain came on. Rock Snobs? Maybe, but we knew our concert vibes by then and left satisfied with another mind-blower performance.
Unfortunately, not only does Trower tour dates not show this concert but neither does any Mountain/Leslie West websites! And what really hurts is that my buddy doesn’t remember it either. Now for most that would be enough – 00individual was just confused. Confused, my ass! We were right of center, again, and a bit back, near Bowie Aladdin Sane Final tour position. And Trower blew the Palladium roof with this monster album of hits – “Too Rolling Stoned” live – for the first time since the album’s recent release!
No, this concert happened and the distinct memory of the decision to leave after Trower’s set was, for whatever reason, burned into the gray matter – 00individual remembers it all like it was yesterday!

Rock Cold Case # 003
ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA
November 25, 1974
Loyola Marymount University, Westchester, L.A. (near LAX).
00individual couldn’t and still can’t locate any confirming date or set list info for this concert.
Then I remembered a very obscure detail; during the concert; Jeff Lynne announced that it was the drummer, Bev Bevan’s birthday (actually it was on the 24th, but they were still celebrating), and everyone whooped and applauded. Why is that a relative clue? Because I went to this concert with my close friend whose birthday was the same day (we took Lynne literally), and that was November 25th, the day of this concert. So the concert had to be on that date.
And more corroborating facts are that ELO were in California in November of 1974 and performed on Nov. 21st in Fresno, north of L.A.
The day after the concert I experienced, Nov. 26th, an L.A. television talk show featured comedian Richard Pryor and actor George C. Scott, and ELO performed two hits from “Eldorado” – so they were in and around L.A. from the 21st through the 26th. and through the power of Sherlock F. Holmes’ deductive reasoning all of these facts leaves us with 11-25-74 as the date that ELO performed at Loyola University just north of LAX.
So why is there absolutely no record of this concert?
Every bit of ELO gig research lists Fresno on the 21st and then not another performance until December 5th in Chicago!
00individual’s conclusion? It’s a perfectly executed conspiracy and cover-up by the Roman Catholic Church and the Vatican to erase this concert from ever existing!
And here’s why:
In a strange sequence of events, just recently (April, 2006), I was informed by someone who also attended this concert back in ’74 that Loyola never booked any more rock concerts after this ELO concert. Why? Supposedly some kid fell from a high window when he tried to sneak into the concert and died. 00individual was unaware of this.
Since Loyola Marymount University is a Roman Catholic institution steeped in Jesuit traditions it was obviously settled immediately, out of court and out of the media and press – and covered-up to avoid any taint on the University. And that taint extended to the fact that it never happened! Right down to the ELO concert – didn’t happen. No concert, no death, nothing out of the ordinary happened that day.
It was THE CONCERT THAT NEVER WAS!
So, what to do about these Unsolved Rock Concert Mysteries?
Nothing, the truth is 00individual experienced these three Righteous Rock Concerts and still has the vivid memories of each.
That’s all that really matters.
