EXPERIENCE ROCK HISTORY!

“CARLIN ROCKS!”
If ever anyone embodied the Spirit of “Rock ‘n’ Roll”; George Carlin is it – he’s the Man.
Here are some of his Rock credentials:
- His attitude and words liberated and filled us with joyous wit and humor.
- He’s a revolutionary in the best sense as he was able to enlighten and mentally motivate, not only a generation who greatly needed the comedic support of a true Counter Culture Clown, but for every generation thereafter.
- He was the Frontman of Comedy with more attitude, soul and conviction than most Rockers.
- He was a rebel; he was present at Lenny Bruce‘s arrest for obscenity and told the police he did not believe in government-issued IDs; he was arrested and taken to jail with Bruce in the same vehicle.
- His run-ins with the law were due mainly with “obscenity” charges; which only provided Carlin the support of the entire “Free Speech” movement and the public’s awareness.
- When a Rocker or Rock Band’s album reaches the zenith in the record industry they receive a Grammy – Carlin has three – beginning with FM & AM.
- Most worthy Rockers paid their dues to become Counter Culture Icons – 00individual can remember Carlin on TV doing his “Hippy Dippy Weatherman with the hippy, dippy weather, Man!” routine – back in the days when the world was in black and white.
- As a Rock lyricist, Carlin is beyond reproach; any one of his “Mastery of the Word” comedy raps are phenomenal and he doesn’t even need auto-tune or prerecorded music nor does he “sample” or steal – Carlin is the hippest Rapper ever! He was the Dylan of Comedy.
- He went full-blown Rock ‘n’ Roll when he used his anti-establishment satire to reveal precise truths within and about sensitive and highly controversial issues like politics, religion, sex and everything in-between – all delivered with his signature insightful comedic take and superhuman memory.
- Carlin’s “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television” was the catalyst that unleashed his hilarious scathing comedy riffs and rants on serious subjects.

George Carlin is, was and always will be 00individual’s all time favorite intelligent, inspiring, vastly humorous, sardonic, satiric, clever and honest comic, performer, linguist, entertainer, educator, and Master of Wacky-faces Clown.

There is a quote I’ve read that’s been attributed to many talented people across diverse careers and professions, and that quote is, “Everything I’ve needed to know I’ve learned from George Carlin!” . . . and that’s no joke.

In a 2008 interview, Carlin stated that using cannabis, LSD and mescaline helped him in his personal life. Carlin was one of, if not the first, performer that we related to as he was a Brother and a stoner who quickly became a high-profile representative of the Counter Culture’s views.
His tireless college and university gigs endeared him to my generation at just the right time when we needed honesty and George Carlin spoke Tribal Truth; through comedy.

Both of these historic and classic comedy albums were released in 1972 – 00individual kept Carlin’s albums filed in with the rest of his Rock albums; right between Blue Cheer and Deep Purple.

Carlin’s quotes are historic, here are a few apropos authentic ones:

“Those who are dancing are considered insane by those who can’t hear the music.”
― George Carlin

“Fuck the drug war. Dropping acid was a profound turning point for me, a seminal experience. I make no apologies for it. More people should do acid. It should be sold over the counter.”
― George Carlin, Last Words

“I’ll tell you a little secret about the Blues: it’s not enough to know which notes to play, you have to know why they need to be played.”
― George Carlin, Napalm & Silly Putty

“I don’t like ass kissers, flag wavers or team players. I like people who buck the system. Individualists. I often warn people: “Somewhere along the way, someone is going to tell you, ‘There is no “I” in team.’ What you should tell them is, ‘Maybe not. But there is an “I” in independence, individuality and integrity.’”
― George Carlin

You don’t need a formal conspiracy when interests converge. These people went to the same universities and fraternities, they’re on the same boards of directors, they’re on the same country clubs, they have like-interests. They don’t need to call a meeting; they know what is good for THEM, and they are getting it. And there used to be seven oil companies. There are now three. It will soon be two. The things that matter in this country have been reduced in choice: there are two political parties, there are a handful of insurance companies, there are six or seven information centers. But if you want a bagel there are 23 flavors because you have the ILLUSION, you have the ILLUSION of choice. You don’t get the real important choices. No freedom of choice.

In the early to mid-’80s 00individual was a Malibu postman, a “T6″ with a different route everyday to cover for the regular postman’s day off and I delivered to, met and talked with many Rock stars, actors, musicians, composers and directors; but even though I delivered to Carlin back then I never saw him as he was obviously busy.
And I missed his Beacon Theater HBO “We Are All Diseased” (one of his best!) by several hours as it was winter and my flight from L.A. to N.Y. ran late and even though my reservation was at the Beacon Hotel, right next to the theater, I arrived just as it was all over, that was February 1999, and I was there for Toy Fair.
Would’ve liked to have met him, but didn’t need to, Carlin’s ability to strike a truthful chord made me feel as confident, rebellious and creative as if he had been a good honest true friend and in reality, through his words, whether he liked it or not, he was for me  . . . and for all of his fans.

The wit and wisdom of George Carlin will inspire, educate, open minds and create joy and laughter for as long as people retain the intelligence to appreciate it.
